What if even the 10-inch miter saws are too big for your needs? That means you need something smaller, and for many, it also means getting the Hitachi C8FSE 9.2-Amp 8-1/2-Inch Sliding Compound Miter Saw instead. This is a compact miter saw with an 8.5-inch blade, but don’t let its size fool you. It also has sliding and compound features that really help with woodcutting projects. Read Hitachi C8FSE Review.

Robust Power
This comes with a 9.2-amp motor, which may not seem enough if you’re used to 15-amp motors. But since it only has an 8.5-inch blade, the available power is enough for your needs. It’s certainly strong enough to get the blade spinning at 5,500 rpm. There’s even an electronic speed control system that keeps the blade rpm rate consistent when you make your cuts, so you always get smooth and controlled results.
Miter and Bevel Range
For your miter cuts, you have thumb-actuated stops at the most common miter angles. These are set at 15, 22.5, 31.6, and 45 degrees on both the left and right. The miter angle range to the left is up to 45 degrees, while to the right you have 57 degrees. So there’s no problem for you to adjust the cutting blade angle to make miter cuts in your crown molding. You also have up to 48 degrees of angle range to the left, plus another 5 degrees to the right. So you’ll only need a single try to get the bevel cuts you want.

Portable
This is the most portable of all the 8.5-inch miter saws you’re likely to encounter. It’s not just compact, but it’s very light at 31 pounds. You don’t have to be a hefty guy to carry this to your job site.
Warranty
This comes with a decent time warranty. You’re unlikely to find another miter saw from another brand with a warranty period this long.
